Early Elementary (Ages 5-8): Rhythm and Staff Basics

Focus on grand staff navigation, treble/bass clef notes, quarter/half/whole note values, and dynamic symbols (piano, forte).

Keep theoretical concepts tactile with magnetic note boards and rhythm games.

Late Elementary & Middle School (Ages 9-13): Keys and Intervals

Master the Circle of Fifths, key signatures up to 4 sharps/flats, interval qualities (major, minor, perfect), and primary triads (I, IV, V).

Correlate theory concepts directly to pieces being learned in private lessons.

High School (Ages 14-18): Harmony and Analysis

Progress through Roman numeral analysis, secondary dominants, modulation, and non-harmonic tones to prepare for AP Music Theory and college placement.
