Who we are

This policy covers the website at pmtnm.org, operated by the PMTNM Community Resource Hub, a member-owned resource for music teachers and families in New Mexico. It does not cover pmtnm.net or any other website we link to.

Information you give us

  • Contact form. Your name, email address, the role you select (teacher, parent/student, or other), a subject, and your message. We use this to answer you.
  • Parent profile. If you fill out the parent profile, we collect the details you enter, such as the instrument, lesson format, ZIP code, number and ages of children, experience level, budget, practice time, and learning goals. If you create a parent account, we also collect your name, email address, and a password. We use this to suggest teachers and resources that fit your family.
  • Member and teacher accounts. Your name, email address, a password, and the profile details you choose to add. Passwords are stored in hashed form, not as plain text.
  • Email updates. If you subscribe to updates, your email address. You can unsubscribe at any time.

Teacher directory profiles are public. Information that a teacher's profile displays, which can include contact details, is visible to anyone who visits the site.

Information collected automatically

  • Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited and how people find the site. Google collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and referring site, and sets its own cookies to do so. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
  • Google Ads. Our pages also load a Google Ads tag, which lets Google measure visits that come from our ads.
  • Site activity logs. Some pages record clicks and page views in our own logs, tied to your browsing session. When you are signed in, we store a one-way hashed version of your email address with those events, not the address itself.
  • Server logs. Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard request information such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested.

Cookies

  • Session cookie. Keeps you signed in and remembers what you've done during a visit.
  • "Remember me" cookie. If you choose it when signing in, it stores your email address for up to 30 days so you don't have to retype it.
  • Parent profile cookies. If you use the parent profile without an account, your answers are saved in a cookie for up to 30 days so you can come back to them.
  • Google cookies. Set by Google Analytics and Google Ads, as described above.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Signing in and saving a parent profile won't work without them.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to run the site:

  • with our website hosting provider, which stores the site and its database;
  • with our email delivery provider, which sends replies, account emails, and updates;
  • with Google, through Google Analytics and Google Ads as described above;
  • when the law requires it.

Our fonts are served by Adobe Fonts, which receives standard request information (such as your IP address) when a page loads.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS, and passwords are stored hashed. No website is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive information, such as financial or health details, through our forms.

Children

The site is meant for teachers and for parents or guardians. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to us through the contact page. You can unsubscribe from email updates at any time.

Links to other websites

We link to many sites we don't control, such as MTNA, teachers' studio websites, and event organizers. Their privacy practices are their own.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we will post the new version on this page and update the date above.
