New Mexico Music Scholarships

Established in memory of PMTNM's founder to support the musical development of talented young pianists.

• Eligibility: Available for piano students (Grade–High School) of active PMTNM members.

Provides financial assistance to dedicated music students studying under a PMTNM teacher.

• Eligibility: Available for all music students (piano, voice, instrumental) whose primary teacher is an active PMTNM member.

The UNM Department of Music offers scholarships to highly qualified incoming freshmen based on their entrance audition and academic record.

• Eligibility: Incoming freshmen accepted to UNM as music majors. Audition required.

This award is distributed in two parts: during the first year of college and again when the student begins their student teaching.

• Eligibility: High school seniors planning to pursue an undergraduate degree in music education at a New Mexico university.

A community scholarship designed to support young instrumentalists transitioning to university-level music programs.

• Eligibility: Students from the Albuquerque metro area who have participated in the Albuquerque Youth Symphony Program (AYSP) and intend to major in music at a four-year institution.

NMSU provides talent-based scholarships to students participating in university ensembles and pursuing a degree in music.

• Eligibility: Incoming and current music majors at NMSU. Audition required.

Annual performance and composition competitions providing state-level awards (often supported by the Joyce Walker Foundation) and the opportunity to advance to Division and National levels.

• Eligibility: Students of active MTNA/PMTNM teachers.

Provides financial support for dedicated music students studying at Eastern New Mexico University.

• Eligibility: Full-time ENMU students enrolled in private music lessons. Audition and faculty recommendation required.

An annual competition that provides performance opportunities and scholarship awards to outstanding young musicians in the region.

• Eligibility: Young musicians in New Mexico.

Awarded to graduating seniors to support and encourage their continued musical education and endeavors.

• Eligibility: High school seniors in Los Alamos County or attending Los Alamos High School demonstrating exceptional musical talent.
