Mindless Repetition vs. Deliberate Focus

Playing a piece from beginning to end multiple times reinforces mistakes. Deliberate practice targets the exact two measures where hesitation occurs.

Define the problem before touching the keys: Is it fingering, rhythm, shifting, or reading?

The Three-Repetition Rule

Once a measure is played correctly, play it correctly three times consecutively before moving forward.

This builds dependable neurological muscle memory that holds up under performance pressure.

Short, High-Intensity Sessions

Twenty minutes of deliberate practice produces better results than sixty minutes of distracted playing.
