MTNA Performance Competitions

How to Participate in New Mexico
In New Mexico, the journey begins with PMTNM. We host the state-level MTNA competitions, which serve as the qualifying round for the Southwest Division competitions.
Teacher Membership is Key
To enter the MTNA competitions, a student's primary music teacher must be an active member in good standing of MTNA and PMTNM. The teacher acts as the sponsor and handles the registration process.

- Registration Deadlines: Registration typically opens in late summer and closes in September. Missing the deadline means waiting until the following year.
- State Competitions: The New Mexico state-level competitions are usually held in late October or early November at a central location like UNM in Albuquerque.
